Press Release
MADISON, WI – (April 14, 2025) – Civic Media today announced an agreement to acquire
radio stations 93.1 The Wave (WRPN AM/FM) in Ripon and 102.3 The Bug (WAUH FM) in Wautoma from Hometown Broadcasting, marking another significant step in the company’s ongoing expansion within Wisconsin.
The company intends to hire the existing teams at both stations, welcoming them into the Civic
Media family.
To ensure a seamless transition of operations, the company will enter into a Time Brokerage Agreement in the coming weeks. This agreement will allow Civic Media to begin managing the stations while the acquisition process is completed and approvals are granted by the Federal
Communications Commission.
“WAUH and WRPN are great examples of local, hometown radio done right, and we are excited to bring them into the Civic Media family,” said Civic Media CEO Sage Weil. “We look forward to building the online audience in these communities and integrating the local reporting staff into our statewide news team to bring more local news and information to the area.”
Civic Media’s portfolio will be increased to 24 stations in Wisconsin, and two in Ely, MN.
